If you are a frequent partaker in my TMI writing style, you already know that TMI is my middle name. I have no problem talking and writing about stuff that others are offended by. I don’t shout profanities, like some of your fav motivational gurus. Nor do I throw needless Don Rickles-style insults like my late, great dad Manny did. But I do discuss taboo subject matter that most others will not. I do so because I know that my simple tips and quips will absolutely add JOY and decrease OY in your life and that’s what I love to inspire you to do. So if discussing constipation makes you a little, uh, uncomfortable (pun intended) then you probably want to read on.
If you’ve read my book Move Your Assets: From the Chair, Not the Bank! you already know that I’ve devoted 70ish pages to answer that age-old question that has been plaguing you since the moment your food baby started crying for attention: “Why should I move my assets when they don’t want to move?” There are thousands of benefits that moving thy fine young assets will bring you and one of the TMI ones is, you’ve guessed it:
You want to dump those potty problems
One day I was looking on Livestrong.com and I found an article with this title: “Bowel Movements Increase with Exercise.” That is a powerful title! Asset moving promotes activity in the digestive tract while being sedentary can slow the digestive system and lead to constipation. In fact, AARP and American Heart Association list a bunch of benefits that simply walking can give you (including many of the ones you’re reading about here). Believe it or not, “alleviate constipation” is on that list.
TMI Bethy confessions
Of course no one knows this better than moi (and I’m sure Ali, Mardi, and some of my other clients will attest as well). My system just responds, shall we say, extremely well ever since I’ve become an avid asset mover. Other asset movers share the same claim to fame, although it isn’t always the favorite topic of discussion!
I know this is way up there on your TMI list. But I am proud to announce that I poop every morning after my morning cawfee, sometimes before, sometimes after my daily walk, and thankfully never during. Though I’ve had to bolt home like lightning; thank G-d I live close to the trail. And thank G-d even my deformed feet can sprint if they have to. I advise you to bring some TP in your fanny pack (come on, you still have one) in case you don’t have this luxury. Like clockwork, every single morning, here is my routine:
6:00ish a.m.: I drink two cups of cawfee whilst doing laundry or simply walking around my house.
6:30ish a.m.: I go to the bathroom, quickly and painlessly. It’s amazing! If step two doesn’t work so quickly, I take my 30-minute walk and then I’m ready to go.
Cawfee + regular asset moving = awesome and easy bowel movements daily!
And of course there are amazing fuse-lighting foods
Plus a daily dose of what I like to call an upside down broom for your colon, aka steamed broccoli, doesn’t hurt either! Speaking of broccoli, there are many other foods that G-d, universe, nature has put on this planet to help us evacuate. By sheer observation most peops don’t partake in these wonderful potty busters on a daily basis and then wonder why their pipes are clogged…DUH!!! Among my fibrous favs are beans, cauliflower, dark green veggies, apples, bananas and here are The 17 Best Foods to Relieve Constipation. These same foods also reduce inflammation in your body and arm you against diseases such as cancer, viruses, and almost any hypokinetic disease you can name.
